St. Louis Comedy Profile: Kenny Kinds

Kenny Kinds St. Louis Comedy Stand Up

We were going write an intro about Kenny Kinds. It’s really hard to write an intro about Kenny Kinds. He pretty much tells you everything you need to know himself. So we just let him go.

Your Name
Kenny Kinds

How long have you been performing stand up?
47 years

Who are your biggest comedy influences?
Dave Attell, Dave Chapelle, David Letterman

Describe your worst experience on stage.
I had been doing this for about 6 months when I perfomed at a bar in Freeburg, IL. It was during game 6 of the 2011 World Series, and the Cardinals had just pulled off a comeback, so no one was paying attention to me.

The owner, who I found out later was insanely racist, got really drunk and just blurted out, ‘DO THE CUBS HAVE ANY BLACK PLAYERS? IF SO! FUCK ‘EM!’ So we pretty much packed up and left right after that.

He then proceeded to follow us out to the parking lot, where he asked us if we wanted to smoke weed with him.

What’s your best on stage experience?
When I opened for Hannibal Buress at The Pageant. We wore tuxedos. It was pretty great.

What’s your favorite thing about the St. Louis comedy scene?
For starters, there are a lot of really funny and interesting people who have come along in the past two years. Very engaged and always wanting to try new things.

Is there anything you’d like to say to the people sitting in the coffee house where I’m typing up this list of questions?
Coffee is murder.

Rank in descending order of coolness: Pirate, Ninja, Zombie, Robot
Ninja, Pirate, Robot, Zombie
This is also a list of things that I would have sex with, from least interest to most.

Cake or Pie?
Cake. Pie is for serial killers.

Plug something. It’s why we do this.

I review movie trailers. It’s the greatest thing ever produced on youtube.
