Over the next two weeks, we’re going to show you some of the great performers who’ll be walking the boards of the stages in The Grove for Flyover Comedy Festival.
A Funny Bone regular, Ben Johnson has been performing comedy for 6 years in the St. Louis area. He’s opened for comedians such as Joe List and Ian Bagg. He embraces the absurd and cartoonish, while maintaining an intellectual undertone entertaining for audiences from all walks of life.
What are you looking forward to most at the festival this year?
Last years festival had some of the best comedy audiences I’ve ever seen in St. Louis. Definitely that.
When/where are you performing at the festival?
Thurs Nov 8 @ 9 at Arguments & Grievances which is an absurd debate show, then meat and potatoes standup Nov 9 @ 7 both at The Improv Shop Side stage

It’s Halloween season, did you wear a costume? What was it?
I was hometown hero Johnny Brock. I handed out business cards and told people what their costumes are worth wholesale.
Would you rather be covered in spiders, or live in a world without tacos?
Well weighing pro’s and cons, if I’m covered spiders I wouldn’t have to worry about a spider when I saw one cause I’m already covered in them. I could also look into silk manufacturing, either to start my own LLC or I could breed the spiders and sell their eggs either to the textile industry or rebrand it as land caviar….
If tacos were to disappear we would lose millions of jobs and the stock market would crash. I presume the inexistence of tacos probably means all tortillas have vanished probably due to some sort of worldwide pestilence or locusts, which is a tell for the biblical end of times. Fallout would ensue from panic causing the dissolution of world governments, and the memory of tortillas kept alive through an oral tradition where not only did they hold burritos together but also communities. I’m for anarchy so I’m going no tacos.
Do you even lift?
I listen to a recording of someone else lifting when I sleep at night. Not sure if it’s working but I definitely wake up sweating.
