Take a Second to Be the Third to March Fourth: Shows 3/3-3/4/17

It’s a dumb pun, but it correctly expresses our desire for you to see a live comedy show this weekend.  Starting tonight.  There are so many choices, you might have an anxiety attack.  You know, that feeling when you’re presented with so many choices that your chest tightens and your vision starts to tunnel?  Your breathing speeds up and gets shallow.  Your body temperature increases.  You feel like you’re going to faint.

Then you remember, it’s just comedy.  No one’s going to die if you don’t choose their show. So pick the one closest to you. Or the one your friends will be at.  Or throw a dart at your computer monitor and see where it puts you.

Thursday (Warning…tonight’s the tough one.) 3/2

Kingshighway, St. Louis, MO 63139) – It’s the second night of this event where comics compete head to head in a race to a final roast battle between tonight’s finalist and last night’s finalist.  There are still a few tickets left, so don’t miss out.  7 pm. Fitz’s Comedy Night (Fitz’s Upstairs Bar, 6605 Delmar, St. Louis, MO 63130) – St. Louis’s longest running independent open mic kicks off at 10 pm.  Sign up is at 9:30.  You might see someone who might be famous someday. Maybe.

Friday (This one’s easy) 3/3

Coffee Break with Ken Warner (Foam, 3359 Jefferson, St. Louis, MO 63118) – Ken Warner is joined by a cast of comics in this popular Cherokee neighborhood coffeehouse.  Foam is a perfect venue for a comedy show with this kind of attitude.  $5, with 20% of the door going to Grounds For Health.  7pm.

The Bunker is taking the week off.  Sorry, improv fans.  They deserve the break though.  Those shows have been killing it.

Saturday 3/4

The indy scene is taking a break tonight.

Last Podcast on the Left (Blueberry Hill, 6504 Delmar, St. Louis, MO 63130) – This show is sold out. That makes us sad because Last Podcast on the Left is one of the best podcasts around.  Who doesn’t want to laugh and learn about serial killers, murderers, and conspiracies?  If you know someone with tickets, be nice to them.  Maybe they’ll take you.  7 pm.

On top of that, Brandon Judd is hosting at Helium for Steve Trevino, and Max Price is hosting at Funny Bone for Ryan Stout.  On the Ill side, Hey Guys has Kevin Farley.

If you don’t find something to laugh at this weekend, buy a mirror.
