We’re spending the next month or so profiling the comics in the St. Louis scene. We’ll be covering a range of comics from seasoned pros, to open mic comics booking their first shows. Our goal is to give you a glimpse at who you can expect to see, no matter where you experience live comedy.
SOCIAL MEDIA INFORMATION
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PERFORMING STAND UP?
DESCRIBE YOUR MATERIAL/STYLE OF PERFORMING TO SOMEONE WHO HASN’T SEEN YOU
I’m an OCDweeb who is really obsessed with the movie Good Burger. I also have a habit of not paying attention and letting my imagination get the best of me. I am also best friends with Yogi Bear.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST EXCITING THING, PERSONALLY, THIS YEAR, ABOUT STAND UP?
After my set at the Helium contest, a few of the comics who I really admire told me how much of a great job I did and were proud of my improvement.
CURRENTLY, WHAT’S THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YOU ARE WORKING TO OVERCOME, IN STAND UP COMEDY?
The biggest challenge is trying to write better jokes that actually fit my voice and trying to write more consistently.
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST COMEDY GOAL FOR THE NEXT YEAR?
I want to improve my writing and ability to tell my jokes so I can not stutter/slur as much.
WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WISH YOU’D KNOWN BEFORE YOU STARTED PERFORMING?
I wish I had known how to write a decent joke instead of relying on stupid puns for the first couple of years. Then I could have been heading in the right direction a lot sooner.
IF YOU WERE A BEVERAGE, WHAT WOULD YOU BE?
I would be Vanilla Coke, because that is the drink that most of the other comics associate me with. Every time I show up somewhere with a bottle, everyone likes to refer to it as my child.
PICK ANY HORROR MOVIE. HOW WOULD YOU SURVIVE?
The Exorcist. I would have survived by not going anywhere near that house.
DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO PROMOTE?
I’m not on any shows but I am running the door for Yours, Mine, and Ours at Heavy Anchor on Wednesday October 23.
